ROUND OF 16 - CUP - WL - FOOTBALL

This week we took a short break from the autumn league for the fixtures everyone has been waiting for… The Knockout Cup 🏆

Let’s join the first game of the night between reigning champions & current league leaders of division 1, Wieden + Kennedy, taking on current leaders of Division 2, Havas London. Wieden's started strongly, taking an early 5-1 lead. I know what you’re thinking, you’ve seen this one before 🥱

The half-time oranges couldn’t come soon enough for Havas. After the break, they forced their way back into the tie with back-to-back goals bringing them within a goal of the champions 👀

Squeaky bum time on pitch 12 and with Havas having the additional players, an upset could be on the cards. 10 to go, one goal in it 💩

But yes, you’re right. You have seen this one before. Wieden's dug deep, defended well and held Havas off. Final score 11-10.

Next up we had newbies VCCP, up against a seasoned AMV BBDO side. With former VCCP, Connor Wynn, along to cheerlead 👯‍♂️

VCCP started strongly taking a 3-0 lead in the opening minutes. Kieran Sadler’s players were rattled and struggled to get into the game. They managed to nick a goal back but any elation was short-lived. Similar to watching a game of whac-a-mole. Any hope, smacked back down 🔨

Credit to VCCP they were a class above. One-touch football with slick interplay and acute finishes. One stunning play to note, the ball rolled out from the keeper, followed by a series of one-touch passes cutting through AMV and finished from the emphatic Scott Kennedy. Give this one a watch on our Instagram 📺

Final score 15-4. VCCP - one to watch.

We Are Social were out for revenge against Droga5 following their fiery affair earlier in the season. The game, so highly anticipated Droga5 players were at the sidelines 40 minutes prior to kick-off working through a rigorous warm-up 🙆

It was a lively first half with goals from both teams, going into the break 6-4. Droga5 kept their 2 goal cushion and controlled the game. With the powerful Freddie Woodward dominating the game in his last week at Droga5 💪

The paperwork has been submitted for a loan deal to keep him at the club until the end of the season. More to come on this breaking story 📝

The last official fixture of the evening saw BBH London vs Anomaly. A tight affair with star man, Adjei, running around with what can only be described as, Bale’s left foot attached to his leg. This was the main difference between the sides securing a 9-6 victory for BBH.

In a friendly fixture, we saw That Lot take on adam&eveDDB, allowing them to get a taste of what Secta has to offer. The taste? They likey - securing a 14-12 victory over the league vets. Although this week, were without captain Wilkie who decided to abandon his team for the second week running. Rumour has it, he’s in a high altitude camp in the Portuguese mountains over recent concerns around his fitness 👀

Round of 16 done.
Quarter-Finals: 8th November 🥳
