Romance was in the air this week at Secta leagues ❤️

Well, for some anyway…

We’ve got JJ, the romantic. JJ is a good man. JJ has the window seat at The Ned booked months in advance, and just to make sure, JJ emails ahead of time to confirm if the fixtures will be going ahead. You will never catch this man with a box of milk tray, a single rose and a kinda surprise at the self-scan on Valentines morning. Play smart, find yourself a man like JJ 🌹

Needless to say, McCann London were unable to field a team this week.

Then we’ve got McCormick's Anomaly on the opposite side of the spectrum. Arthur wakes up, strolls downstairs to find a card from his partner on the table. ‘AHHH SHIT’. Not again Arthur, not again. *immediately cancels 5-a-side fixture and books Nando's 🍗

Only kidding Arthur, we know you can’t book Nandos.

BBH London were also seemingly full of romantics as they failed to field a team, much to Jack’s delight as he devoured an M&S meal deal for 2, for one. No complaints from him 🍲

Let’s get into the little football in hand ⚽️

Wieden + Kennedy vs. adam&eveDDB. This has been the one to watch in the last couple of seasons, with both teams battling it out for the title. adam&eveDDB are playing with fire in the belly as they try to avenge their opening day thrashing. Wieden + Kennedy on the other hand haven't been the same side we’ve seen in previous seasons, but truth be told, that’s a hard standard to maintain. adam&eveDDB started the stronger and established an early lead and whilst Wieden + Kennedy fought their way back into the tie, it was too little too late 🔥

Next up we had a bottom of the table clash between We Are Social and The Mill. The Mill are struggling to find their feet in their debut season but continue to battle through and put their body on the line for the cause once again. We Are Social dominated the game and played well, pushing them to secure their first win of the season. The Mill continue to show signs of progression but unfortunately, they just can’t get the result they desperately want. It will come! 📈

Lastly, we had league leaders VCCP, up against Ogilvy UK who have shown glimpses of real quality this season. That quality showed in the opening minutes as they established an early lead. As the game went on VCCP worked their way back into the fixture and the real moment of change came when VCCP keeper conceded a penalty for stepping out of his area. He made immediate amends with a strong save that swung the momentum in their favour. In true sh*thousery, this man later took a penalty and couldn’t resist the urge to inform Ogilvy UK, “that’s how you take a penalty” 😬
