This week at Secta we returned to the bright lights of Shoreditch for the business end of the season 💡

One game in particular to note.

McCann London vs. VCCP

Wieden + Kennedy marked this night in the calendar weeks before 📆

If any team is capable of putting a stop to the McCann party, it would be this VCCP side.

On their day, they can beat anyone.

The game was off to a flier thanks to VCCP’s, Mallins as he single-handedly catapulted VCCP into the lead, scoring a suite of tidy goals 👌

The goals didn’t stop as VCCP raced to a 5-1 lead with an acute finish from Ed Loughton to add to the Mallins masterclass.

It wasn’t the half McCann wanted, nor needed. Pressures reached boiling point after captain JJ was subject to an insult to the moustache.

Never the moustache, man.

He gathered his players and mustered up an emotional team talk.

The talk was heartfelt.
The players needed it.

Title on the line here.

After the break McCann nicked a few goals and just like that, for the first time of the night, there was an air of doubt in VCCP’s play 😬

At 6-3, it’s a completely different feeling in the stade de Shoreditch.

There was now a belief in this McCann side and rightly so as more space began to materialise.
And of course, with space, comes TS7 time.

You could put this down to McCann’s desire or a VCCP crumbling but one thing was fo sure. They were all square with left minutes to play.

Tense moments followed with neither side taking their chances.
The tie in the balance.
McCann had the momentum. VCCP had Mallins.

A missed sitter from McCann. Could they live to regret that?

Absolutely not.

With only 2 games left to play, McCann move one step closer to the title.

AKQA vs. adam&eveDDB

AKQA were back and so were the fans. The highly anticipated game saw the return of Wylie as he travelled up from Bristol.

adam&eveDDB looked slightly fragmented as they scraped together a team at the last minute and this was evident on the pitch ⚽️

The game started tightly but as it progressed AKQA showed their quality with a special shoutout to their very own Bernardo Silva, Levin, who secured the victory.

AMV BBDO vs. Anomaly

AMV returned with captain Sadler fresh from holiday. This week, thankfully with the floodlights on.

But that’s as good as it got for AMV as they were subject to a seasoned display from Anomaly. Derrick highlighted the difference between the two sides. The clinical edge.
Something former number 9, Chang, had in abundance.

The Mill vs. Saatchi & Saatchi

Lastly, we had a middle-of-the-table clash with both teams striving for a top 4 position. It was a tight game with Saatchi captain Hernan feeling leggy from the weekend but his team persevered and grabbed the all-important W.
