MW10 - SUMMER LEAGUE - FOOTBALL

🚨 5 Matchweeks remaining 🚨

This week at Secta, McCann London struck late, Wieden + Kennedy followed in hot pursuit and AMV BBDO continued to hand out freebies 🫣

The league leaders 🥇

A new look McCann arrived in town with an interesting influx of new talent on show, despite whispers of a hiring freeze 👀

Up against an Ogilvy UK side playing some of their finest football to date.

This week’s fixture was no doubt trickier for McCann without holiday-bound TS7 and injury-prone, Bender. But nonetheless, they were guided by the ever-capable Passingham and Wynn. Well, Wynn missed a pen so let’s just go with Passingham.

McCann were left in the capable hands of Passingham ahead of their must-win fixture with Ogilvy. Much better.

It was a thriller.

An upset?

McCann fought hard to get ahead after being 2 down with 10 minutes to play.

It wasn’t over.

Ogilvy captain, Stride, received the ball down the line, rides a strong challenge from Passingham, turning in the process and places the ball top-bins with his left peg.

But never count McCann out.

Slick interplay creates space and unknown “McCann player” releases an absolute howtzinger, the keeper gets a hand to it but it's not enough, as the ball strikes the crossbar and bounces down over the line.

McCann nick another to seal the deal 📮

Hot Pursuit 🥈

Captain Pym was served the option of playing a friendly, with a 3-0 win, or putting all on the line in a game of mainly ringers from BBH.

In this form, they’d have been silly to take anything else.

Of course, they wanted the proper match.

According to ringer 1, Matthews, "they’re actually pretty decent”. Ringer 2, Macfarlane, was quoted saying “that Jonathon fella is too big to play 5-a-side”. The words of a man who’d been run ragged for 40 minutes...

So yeah, all in all, Wiedens are good. The less said about the details of the game the better.

Still in it 🥉

Anomaly keep ticking over and remain hot on the heels of the leaders after a big win against We Are Social.

They did their utmost to make it difficult after a crossbar-crushing penalty and an own-goal for good measure. Eventually, they dug deep and overcame a We Are Social resurgence to secure the points.

Despite VCCP's initial attempt to not play a single game, they have since returned to the bright lights of Shoreditch with a point to prove. Last night saw the return of former stars Kennedy & Chaplin, with the goals to match. Talisman Mallins looked closer to his former self as they despatched VMLY&R.

AKQA arrived for a 10-player strong training session. Rumours from pitch 12 noted Elliott organised a mixture of fitness and set pieces, as they look to finish the debut season strongly and not miss any more penalties 👀

VMLY&R 4-16 VCCP
