What a ride these two teams have been on 🎢
Let’s start with VCCP.
We marked them as one to watch after they cruised to victory in the first round over AMV BBDO, a class above in fact. Bringing one-touch, silky football to the hallowed turf of Shoreditch with Kennedy bursting onto the scene.
They continued this run after making their way through a banana skin of a fixture against a seasoned Ogilvy side. A cagey affair that was all equal at half-time but thanks to an ear-bending from captain Mallins, they came out of the blocks firing and proved too much for Stride's Ogilvy 🍌
On to the semis and boy god this one didn’t disappoint. Up against a class act in Wieden + Kennedy. In what was an almighty affair, captain fantastic was at it again. This time scoring the winner with a peach of a half-volley that booked his side's place in the final 🍑
With the football they’ve played and the teams they’ve beaten it’s fair to say VCCP will be favourites going into the final.
But we all love a cup story, don’t we?
This Droga5 side is certainly not to be written off. After battling their way through to the final this team is fearless and has more than enough ability to win this.
They started the competition with a tough clash against We Are Social in which the former employee turned loanee, Woodward, dominated and hoisted his side to an emphatic victory 🎉
It was an unforgettable victory in the quarter against league runners up, adam&eveDDB. With superstar keeper, Anderson, likened to Gianluigi Buffon by adam&eveDDB captain Wilkie. It was this performance that helped his side create the upset of the tournament 😱
There wasn’t any stopping Droga5 5 in a thriller of a semi-final. The hair biting semi (easy now) had it all. Howlers, crunching tackles, unbelievable goals. And of course, a finalist. Droga5 persevered to victory with an incredible team goal between Bennett, Waywell and co to note 🔥
If they bring this heat on Monday they’ll be a difficult side to beat.
