SEMI FINAL - CUP - WL - FOOTBALL

This week at Secta it was cup semi-final night and what a couple of games it was. Penalties galore, close comebacks and a hella lot of cracking saves 🧤

Let’s get into it.

McCann London 14-10 BBH London

Oh daym, what a game this was. Going into the fixture both sides were without their captains and chief kit washers. JJ, picking up an injury the day before the final. Plonker. And Jack, on a month-long sabbatical. Smart guy 👨‍🏫

McCann London started strongly and looked to continue their rich vein of cup form. When BBH’s, Adjei arrived from the late shift there was 4 goals between the sides but of course, still time for the Adjei - Camilo vintage link up. Although this wasn’t their strongest asset on the night. That came in the form of McCann’s newbie who proceeded to concede 3 penalties through not knowing the rules. Captains job we say 👀

Two men stood in the way of BBH, the usual Theo being McCann's danger man but it was the heroic goalkeeping performance of Wynn that stood out. Get that man some gloves, a matching jersey and bloody pay rise after that performance. The man needs a new neck after one thunderbolt and we certainly aren’t paying for it. Ts & Cs guys, Ts & Cs 📄

Wieden + Kennedy 16 - 7 The Mill

This game as you’d expect was off to a cagey start. The biggest prize in advertising is on the line after all. The one prize Wieden + Kennedy is yet to win at Secta. The first half was great to watch, whilst Wieden's were dominant, they couldn’t shake The Mill off. Every goal, shortly equalised. 5-5 at the halfway point ❌

In the end, Wieden’s quality prevailed. After a few choice words from Pym the second half welcomed a different side, reminiscent of the glory days. Man like Ritter likened to Muller in previous years was back in fine form, scoring a suite of exquisite goals with a beautifully poised dink to seal the tie. So beautiful in fact he asked for the clip the following day for his personal collection. You canny blame him 🤩
