QUARTER FINAL - CUP - SUMMER LEAGUE - FOOTBALL
Meet your semi-finalists of the Advertising Cup 🏆
And if you fancy it, read exactly how it happened below 👇
Lucky Generals vs. Anomaly
There’s a new team in town and they look alright you know. Lucky Generals were up against seasoned Secta vets, Anomaly.
Anomaly struggled for players but managed to pick up a ringer last minute. Captain McCormick was overjoyed to field a team only to realise said ringer thought he was a character in FIFA Street, looking to score the perfect gamebreaker 🤦
It was a cracking game in which Lucky Generals wasted no time stamping their authority. Anomaly gave the second half a good go but the damage was already done in the first. With mastermind Taylor at the helm, Lucky Generals could go all the way.
Wieden + Kennedy vs. Saatchi & Saatchi
Wieden’s arrived in high spirits after turning over the league leaders last week. Saatchi & Saatchi aren’t a bad side but on Monday, Wieden’s made them look it, bopping a WHOPPING 18 goals passed them. Yeah yeah, Wieden’s have won titles before but this side is looking naughty 🫣
If VCCP ever turned up, that would be a game we’d like to see.
McCann London vs Droga5
McCann London bounce back after their first loss of the season but there is one moment that deserves a mention 📸
We’re gonna say it, we witnessed the best turn in Secta history in this game. The likes of Mallins, Adjei & Wilkie may argue but this was filthy. Technically, maybe not that impressive but let us talk you through it. Unknown Droga player (chief ref abuser) was running towards Barr at some pace, Barr seamlessly turns in the opposite direction in liquid motion, said Droga player is not only unable to react but nearly unable to walk after that change of direction, down for the 10 count. Pure filth. 🔥
Best turn, Barr none.
After this turn, it was curtains for Droga as McCann stamped their authority on the tie and never looked back 👋
Ogilvy UK vs. AKQA
Damn, this was a cracking game. Ogilvy UK started the stronger and were tough to break down, especially with Matthew The Cat Stott in net 🧤
The game produced excellent football with contenders for goal of the night from Wylie & Cowan. We didn’t capture Wylie’s goal so let’s give him the airtime he deserves. A ball from Elliott played out from the back, superbly chested down by Wylie and then, out of nowhere, delightfully backheeled into the corner 🤯
Sadly, this was later cancelled out by a missed pen from the captain 🫣
Cowan’s on the other hand can be seen on our insta stories. It’s worth a watch just for the Cowan x Babalola celebration 🎉
PASSION.
AKQA had a late resurgence but it wasn’t enough as Ogilvy UK held out for the victory and progressed through to the semi-finals 📈
Scores:
Lucky Generals 10-7 Anomaly
Wieden + Kennedy 18-4 Saatchi & Saatchi
McCann 10-5 Droga5
Ogilvy 10-7 AKQA
Until next time,
