You can't make this stuff up 😵

In the biggest match Secta Leagues has seen to date, we saw league leaders adam&eveDDB take on 3rd place @AMV BBDO. Going into the fixture both teams knew that anything but an AMV BBDO win would make it difficult for anyone else to catch the leaders 🤯

And boy. Myself, the fans, Powerleague Shoreditch and nearby residents, including but not limited to BOXPARK, were not disappointed. The game had it all. GOALS, crunching tackles, spectacular saves and heartburn, yes heartburn (Gaviscon - insert sponsorship opportunity) 💔

AMV BBDO grabbed the bull by the horns, taking an early lead and dominated the first half. With 2 acute finishes from striker, Jamie Chang, the challengers edged in front. After the half-time oranges, the game slowed and adam&eveDDB were pushing to get back into the clash. But Matt Henry was having none of it. A plethora of spectacular saves kept AMV BBDO comfortably in the lead. Despite captain Kieran Sadler’s yelp of ‘HEARTBURN’, they eventually put the game to bed with tiki-taka interplay, ending in a 40 yard (🤫), half-volley screamer from Lorenzo Scibelli. Give that man a day off.

Anomaly didn’t want to add any more sauce to the title fight as a new business pitch forced them to forfeit their clash with Wieden + Kennedy. Rather undramatically this victory saw Ollie Pym's side move into the top spot. The odds on favourites at the start of the season have moved into pole position with one week to go. Dun dun duuuuun!! 🏆

Moving to the battle for the top 6. R/GA, Ogilvy UK and BBH London all turned last week’s performances around, with the smell of Saatchi & Saatchi’s closely behind them. All three teams decided they didn’t like the smell of said aroma and retained their 3-point advantage with comfortable victories 🐎

But you can’t shake off Saatchi & Saatchi’s that easy, they pick up the win against an Engine UK side that despite last week’s mammoth victory, appeared to have nothing left in the tank as they also forfeited the fixture, with only their goalkeeper available to play 🧤

An honourable mention to VaynerMedia London, who despite some heavy losses in recent weeks continue to turn up and kick ball (and Jack Cumming 👀). With both them and Engine UK tied on goal difference at the bottom, the battle for the wooden spoon goes to the final week 🥄
