The torrential rain was kind enough to take a few hours off, allowing the Autumn league to continue rain-free this Monday 🌧

Before we get into it. Next week is cup week with the draw being released on our Instagram page this evening 🥁

Division 1

BBH London vs Wieden + Kennedy, the only official fixture going ahead in Division 1 this week. Looking at the table and previous results you could assume Wieden + Kennedy may wrap this one up early and be down the pub before half-time.

Never assume.

Credit to BBH London after taking an early 2-0 lead, sending shockwaves around Shoreditch. Wieden + Kennedy's without the sturdy guidance of captain, Ollie Pym. No Pym, no win? 😳

Wieden + Kennedy knew they’d be in for grilling if they returned to the office without the points and as the game went on, they improved. With scorchers from Newby and Sam Hunton. A spectacular favourite from Hunton, picking the ball up on the edge of his box with his back to goal, delightfully turning, potentially nutmegging the oncoming BBH London defender and releasing an absolute HOWTZINGER into the bottom corner. You can catch this one on our insta story ☄️

It was these moments of class that gave W+K the edge, securing a 13-11 victory.

Division 2

We start with Anomaly hoping to build on last week's draw, taking on a We Are Social side searching for their first points of the season.

We Are Social edged ahead with goals from Weston, Galt and Areoye. They had the chance to take a 2-goal lead with a few minutes left to play after Anomaly conceded a late penalty. Up stepped Areoye. After already netting 4 times in the game, could he grab another? In true Beckham style, he raises left his arm, takes one step, and slots the ball into the bottom corner. You can see this one for yourself on Insta.

With only a few minutes left to play Anomaly needed two goals. They quickly grabbed 1 with a long-range strike. Ut oh. We Are Social, desperate for the final whistle but withholding pressure well. Would there be one more chance? You bet ya. The ball falls kindly to Derrick after a misplaced shot. 1-on-1 with the keeper. He calmy strokes the ball through the keeper's legs into the net. GOAAAL. “THAT’S SO F*CKING GOOD” screams Thorbjørn Kragh Liljegren.

What a game. 13-13.

The final game of the night saw Ogilvy UK take on Droga5. The latter off to a rocky start when new joiner, Anderson, sprinted out of his keeper's box to clear the ball. Mike Waywell, later revealed he forgot to mention the rules before putting him out into the wild. Let’s hope his onboarding process has been smoother. The first half was a cagey affair but Ogilvy UK came out of the blocks a different team. Joseph Martin ran the show. Controlling the tempo, with solid defending and scoring pivotal goals. One of which can be seen on our Instagram stories. Ogilvy UK dominated the second half, securing an 8-3 victory.

Until next week. Cup week 😬
Secta.
