This week at Secta we had a little treat, well for some.

Cup Final Night.

McCann London vs. Wieden + Kennedy.

Two sides with relatively poor performances in the league, sitting 10th and 11th in the table. Can either side salvage their season?

McCann has shown some flair in the cup with talisman Theo (known as TS7 in the cage). TS7 has been, without a doubt, the player of the tournament. According to Bender, the team has only seen him in the office once. In our eyes, if you play like that, you should never have to work again 👨‍⚖️

** But it’s great we can facilitate this, bringing people together from the same company that wouldn’t usually interact 👀

Wieden + Kennedy have been a shell of their former self. Described by both Smith & Pym, as a “transitional season”, after losing a few big guns in recent months. It’s certainly been that, as they waited until the last game of the season to secure their first win and move off of the bottom spot 📉

But this is the cup.
Anything can happen.
4 games played and they’re both in the same position.

In current form and league position, McCann London were favourites going into the fixture. And boy, were JJ and Wynn keen to emphasise, with score with predictions of 5-0 & 10-0 🫣

The game itself.

We started this one a little differently. Closest to crossbar takes kick.

Pym goes just over.
Bender close.
Passingham not so close.
Ritter with the ZINGER.
Ding dong.
Game on.

Advantage Wieden + Kennedy 😮‍💨

As you’d expect, it was a cagey start. That was until talisman TS7 gave McCann the lead, this was quickly doubled after an own goal with a mix up between Pym and keeper, Graham.

Ritter pulled one back but it was big man Bassot that scored a 3-minute hat-trick that swung the tie back in Wieden + Kennedy's favour.

Nonetheless, we went into the break at 7 a piece. What a half of football that was.

As the second half started Wieden's wasted no time with a critical goal from Pym. From this moment, all the talk, all the pressure, seemed to have gotten the best of the boys in pink. There was a crumbling on pitch 4 and Wieden + Kennedy took full advantage 🔨

For a brief moment, questions were asked as goals from TS7 and Bender kept the game alive. But it was too little too late.

A massive congratulations to both teams, it's no easy feat to get to the final and what a spectacle it was 📸

A trophy that makes Ollie Pym and his Wieden + Kennedy team the most coveted in Secta history. Although Mallins and VCCP might have something to say about that soon 😬
