Semi-Final showdown 🏆
Wow.
What. A. Night.
After starting with 14 teams we now have 2.
But who are they? 👀
League veterans, Droga5, up against newbies That Lot.
Droga5 had a great start after scoring a goal in the opening minute. This lead lasted a total of 30 seconds as That Lot made one pass from kick-off and hit a beautifully caressed shot into the bottom corner from their half. Now we have a cup tie 🤔
This was the format for the remainder of the game with neither side dominating. Going into the fixture all eyes were on star man Nik. Maybe the pressure of the semi-finals was too much, as an attempt to throw the ball out resulted in him launching it directly into his net 🤯
Despite this howler, Droga went into the break with a 1 goal lead. Just after the second half commenced, the lead doubled, after That Lot had a mistake of their own. Unfortunately for them, this one was caught on camera 📸
The game remained tight until the bitter end but goals from Bennett and Waywell helped secure the victory 🎉

Next, we joined back to back league champions, Wieden + Kennedy. Up against VCCP, a side who have had an aura of class as they’ve progressed through the tournament 🎻
Let the battle begin.
It was a cagey start to the tie with both teams working each other out. VCCP remained compact at the back and made it difficult for Wieden + Kennedy’s to penetrate. As Wieden’s pushed on they were susceptible to the counterattack, allowing VCCP to establish a 3-1 lead going into halftime 😬
Both teams came out of the break fighting. With pivotal match-ups all over the pitch. However, it was evident the biggest battle of the day was between VCCP captain, Mallins and a Wieden’s player who can’t be named for *legal reasons. He knows who he is. Both players put their bodies on the line to keep their team in the cup tie 💪
Wieden's fought back into the game and got themselves on level terms with minutes left to play. But with less than a minute left on the clock, an attempt from Wieden's keeper to play a long ball forward was intercepted by Mallins, who as you’d expect, calmly slotted the ball into the corner and sealed the victory for his side🎖
Chants of "he's getting sacked in the morning" were quickly silenced 🤫
Seriously, what a game and a cracking effort from all involved. It was played at an incredible standard and one of the best we’ve seen here at Secta.
